The I-Roast is the finest coffee roaster to use in home coffee bean brewing. It works by using direct stream of hot air that penetrates the beans with an upward movement that could both roasts and mixes it in the process. Then, this air stream carries the chaff away from the roasted beans and moves them to the collector that surrounds the top neck of the roasting pot. During the final minutes of the roasting cycle, a special cool down mode cools both the beans and the roaster to the appropriate temperature since roasting temperature can be as hot as 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here are some important tips and reminders when using the I-Roast 2 Coffee Roaster:
▪ Roasting cycle is only up to 15 minutes.
▪ Roasting time and temperature should be adjusted accurately.
▪ Always check the roasting temperature during the roasting cycle.
▪ In order to control the final roasting results, either decrease or increase the roasting temperature during the roasting cycle.
▪ The device has a memory function. It can store up to 10 roaster curves and 2 pre-programmed curves even if the unit is unplugged.
▪ It has a patented well tunnel and thermoreflector design that is very well suited for evenly roasting the coffee beans.
▪ It has an LCD that can display the time, temperature, and other functional and processing information.

Coffee Roasting $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Roasting coffee transforms the chemical and physical properties of green coffee beans into roasted coffee products. The roasting process is what produces the characteristic flavor of coffee by causing the green coffee beans to expand and to change in color, taste, smell, and density. Unroasted beans contain similar acids, protein, and caffeine as those that have been roasted, but lack the taste. It takes heat to speed up the Maillard and other chemical reactions that develop and enhance the flavor. As green coffee is more stable than roasted, the roasting process tends to take place close to where it will be consumed. This reduces the time that roasted coffee spends in distribution, helping to maximize its shelf life. The vast majority of coffee is roasted commercially on a large scale, but some coffee drinkers roast coffee themselves in order to have more control over the freshness and flavor profile of the beans. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 88 Publication Date: 2010/08/19 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.21 inches |

Starbucks Coffee 2-lb. Bold Whole Bean Coffee, Kenya $27.9 Kenya has a wonderful fruity flavor, sometimes tasting like black currants or blackberries, and is elegantly medium bodied. The acidity is crisp and clean, sometimes imparting a tart grapefruit note. Kenya has a strong identity, and no coffee is truly similar. However, it is worthwhile to compare it to Ethiopian Sidamo. Look for the telltale African acidity and fruitiness in each coffee. Unlike most origin countries, Kenya has a formal coffee marketing organization that cup tests every lot of coffee before it is sold. Each lot of coffee is cupped and graded, then sold at auction. Starbucks does not buy coffee at the auction; rather, their vendors buy coffees they think Starbucks will like and sends them offer samples. Starbucks buys coffee primarily on how it tastes, which is why they don’t specify Kenya grades such as “AA” or “A”. These grades refer solely to bean size. Finding and purchasing the best green beans in the world is the first step that differentiates Starbucks Coffee from the rest of the coffee industry. Starbucks is well-known for its exceptionally high quality coffees, care in selection, and expertise in roast. Each coffee is selected for the defining qualities that distinguish its origin. This careful selection process illustrates Starbucks passion for buying and roasting the world’s best coffee. |

Starbucks Coffee Whole Bean Coffee – Columbia – 1 Bag (12 oz) $8.75 Coffee – Whole Bean – Medium – Colombia. Latin America. Batch roasting since 1971. Tasting notes: Balanced, nutty. Good coffee, doing good. The coffee in this bag – like all of our coffees – is of the highest quality and purchased with respect for farmers. By working together and paying the prices their premium coffee deserves, we’re helping improve the lives of those farmers and their communities. Only 3% of the coffee grown around the world is good enough to make it into a bag of Starbucks coffee. And it’s always 100% Arabica. Colombia: Venturing to coffee farms 6 500 feet up treacherous dirt roads – with a sheer mountain wall to your right and the cliff dropping off to your left – is a little hairy. But highly worth it. This coffee is as distinctive as the Colombian countryside, with a wonderful round body, juicy feel and a signature nutty flavor in the finish. Enjoy with pecan pie and a window seat. In Latin America, hundreds of years of coffee tradition have passed along the ritual of washing coffee beans free of their sticky, protective honey. This washing process imprints all of the coffee grown there with a crisp flavor and palate-cleansing acidity. |

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf 1-lb. Whole Coffee, Sumatra Mandheling Dark $12.95 Sumatra Mandehling Dark has a smooth body with a smoky aroma and sweet earthy flavor. This coffee is taken further into the roasting spectrum by transforming the maltiness of the Sumatra into caramel, which adds more intensity to the aroma. Our Sumatra coffee is cultivated from Mandheling, the finest growing region in Sumatra in the Indonesian archipelago. The ideal growing altitude of 2,500 to 5,000 feet produces one of the world’s finest gourmet coffee. This coffee is semi-washed – a process in which the outer skin is removed in a fashion similar to the wet process. Once the skin is removed, however, the pulpy mucilage is left to dry on the bean. This process makes for a fruitier taste and stronger, heavier body. Pair it with fresh cherries, pecans, chocolate or carrot cake. |

Starbucks Coffee 2-lb. Extra Bold Whole Bean Coffee, Sumatra $27.9 Earthy and unpredictable, with an unusually concentrated flavor, heavy full body and deep, earthy aroma. Sumatra is Starbucks best selling single origin coffee. Sumatra is one of the largest islands of Indonesia, a country comprised of several thousand islands stretching along the equator from Malaysia to Papua New Guinea in Southeast Asia. Ninety percent of the coffee grown in Indonesia comes from small, independent farms. Because the value of coffee is high, farmers grow this crop close to home, often in the backyard. After harvest, the farmer takes the coffee to the nearest milling co-op. Here it is combined with coffee from other small farms and sold. Eleven million people depend on coffee for their livelihood in Indonesia. Most of the coffee grown in Indonesia is robusta. Therefore, the search for the arabica coffee that is ultimately used in Sumatra is arduous, challenging and always an adventure. Hualalai Estate- 100% PREMIUM Kona Coffee – Medium-Dark Roast 7oz (WHOLE BEAN) $32.99 Premium Estate Kona coffee is noticeably better than other estate Kona coffees because we do not use the lower grades of Kona coffee. Most estate Kona Coffees are called ‘estate’ because all of the beans come from the same property or estate, and they all get roasted together. Due to the nature of coffee, sizes vary, so roasting different sized beans together leads to an inconsistent roast, with some beans being over roasted, leading to a burnt taste. Since we roast only uniform beans together, and roast at a temperature that brings out the perfect balance for that size, we get a more uniform and consistent roast. Compare our Premium Estate whole beans with the whole bean of other Kona coffees, and the visual difference is noticeable. Taste them side-by-side, and the difference is unmistakable. 100% Pesticide Free – WHOLE BEAN 100% PREMIUM Kona Coffee – Medium-Dark Roast 7oz (WHOLE BEAN) |

Java Trekker: Dispatches from the World of Fair Trade Coffee $0.99 Behind a single coffee bean lie the stories of countless lives and cultures, of success, opportunity, struggle, and tradition amid a complex global landscape of economics and desire. Founder and owner of Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee, Dean Cycon is truly one of the few people on Earth who can be described as a professor of coffee. In Javatrekker, Cycon explores the untold origins of coffee through his travels to ten different producing countries. Drawing upon his wide range of experience and study as a coffee roasting entrepreneur, lawyer, activist, and development worker, he shares the unique qualities of the coffee, insight into the lands and culture, and a greater understanding of the economic and personal challenges of bringing each bean to your grinder. What is Fair Trade Coffee?Coffee prices paid to the farmer are based on the international commodity price for coffee (the “C” price) and the quality premium each farmer negotiates. Fair Trade provides an internationally determined minimum floor price when the C plus premium sinks below $1.26 per pound for conventional and $1.41 for organics (that’s us!). As important as price, Fair Trade works with small farmers to create democratic cooperatives that insure fair dealing, accountability and transparency in trade transactions. In an industry where the farmer is traditionally ripped off by a host of middlemen, this is tremendously important.Cooperatives are examined by the Fairtrade Labeling Organization (FLO), or the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT), European NGOs, for democratic process and transparency. Those that pass are listed on the FLO Registry or become IFAT members. Cooperatives provide important resources and organization to small farmers in the form of technical assistance for crop and harvest improvement, efficiencies in processing and shipping, strength in negotiation and an array of needed social services, such as health care and credit. Fair Trade also requires pre-financing of up |
