Making French Press Coffee with Ease
All coffee drinkers appreciate a quality cup of fresh Brewed Coffee. Whether you start your day, end your day, or enjoy it any time, there are a few things to consider when brewing it. To brew a great cup of coffee, you need to start with freshly roasted gourmet beans. Then you choose a brewing method. According to the experts, the best way is to use a French press. Because most of us have never used a French press, we are not sure how to do this. It can look intimidating. To help you along, I am going to walk you through the process. Even though this method takes a little more effort than some methods, I am sure that, once you have tried it, you will be willing to take the time and effort.
Before we start, we need three things: water, a French press, and coffee. Bottled spring water or filtered water would be good to use. Grind your whole beans just before you make your coffee. Grind them to a coarse grind. Any coffee can be used so experiment to find which one you like the best. Lastly, have a clean French press coffee maker.
Here are the steps.
- Start heating the water.
2. Grind 8 tablespoons of fresh coffee to a coarse grind and place them in the empty French Press.
3. Just before the water starts to boil, take it off the heat, start a timer to 4 minutes, and pour the water over the grounds.
4. Stir the water and coffee together for a couple of seconds.
5. Let the mixture sit until 3minutes and 55 seconds have been reached.
6. Stir the coffee and water one last time and depress the plunger. Once the plunger reaches the bottom, remove the brewed coffee immediately to stop the brewing process. If you leave the brewed coffee in the container, it will continue to brew, and this can cause a large variation in the cup.
7. Now, relax and enjoy your French press brewed cup of coffee.
Once you feel like you know what you are doing, experiment with the preparation. Try different coffees or different roasts. Put in different amounts of coffee and vary the brewing times. The longer you brew it, the stronger the flavor with be. We all have different tastes that we like, and with all the different types of coffee, we have endless possibilities. So, be brave. Experiment with this way of preparing coffee a few times to see which way you like, and become an expert at making French press coffee. You will impress your friends!
