Is Decaf Coffee still bad for you during pregnancy?
Hello there!
I’m a confessed coffee lover. Before I became pregnant coffee was a hobby. I love having a variety of delicious fair trade Organic Coffee on hand. I find I often enjoy the atmosphere of sitting and having a good brew with a friend rather then the caffeine.
However, since I became pregnant (I’m now 32 weeks along) I’ve restricted my intake to 3 servings of coffee a week, or one cup once in a while with breakfast. But now that I’m so far along, I find I react to it differently. My heart rate is already accelerated from carrying the baby and I find if I have a cup I don’t sleep terribly soundly. So now I’ve stopped drinking it all together for almost 2 weeks.
I’m not sure if drinking decaffeinated coffee would be the solution or not. Does it still raise my and the baby’s heart rate? Would it be best to avoid it all together, or is it alright?

I’d go ahead and try the decaf. That’s what I drink–like you said, no more than three times a week. Even though decaf coffee still has SOME caffeine in it, I certainly can tell a difference. The other day I had a teeny cup of regular coffee and I was bouncing off the walls! I seriously don’t think I had any more than 1/3 of a cup. My decaf does not do that to me.
