Process Of Making Coffee

Coffee Flavoured Syrup?

I’m in the process of making some flavoured stock syrup for the coming summer months. My basic syrup consists of 500g of caster sugar plus 500ml water and the zest of 1 lemon.

For coffee flavoured syrup I’ve been advised to add 2 teaspoons of roasted Coffee Beans. Now I have to ask what might sound a very silly question but are the coffee beans that you find on your supermarket shelf and you pop into your grinder not pre-roasted?

I understand to roasting process but am just not certain if my beans are already roasted or if I have to roast them again.

At the moment I’m looking at using the syrup in my homemade ice cream but feel free to mention how you use Coffee Syrup.

The coffee grounds you’ll get at the supermarket are pre roasted and pre ground.
So you’ll be good to go.

And YUMMM now I wanna make coffee syrup too. I made a cold infused one recently but I should have added sugar before straining it off. (I don’t know that I would recommend the cold infusion version.)

Start with small batches till you get your recipe just right so as to not waste too much if you don’t like it.
